Eyelid surgery is designed to correct loose and sagging skin creating folds which disturb the natural contour of the upper and lower eyelids. Dr. Goldberg makes an incision over the upper eyelid natural crease to remove the excess skin. The scar is well hidden within your eyelid crease and thus becomes undetectable. In the same surgery, Dr Goldberg also removes excess fatty deposits that appear as puffiness in the upper eyelids.
Often, the patient will require surgery for the upper and lower lids to remove excess skin in both lids and remove bags under the eyes. The lower eyelid surgery is accomplished through an incision that is hidden within the eyelash line or inside the lid. The surgery will remove the puffiness of the lower eyelid and excess skin. The surgical time takes about 2 hours. It is often accomplished under local or general anesthesia.
Bruising and swelling last about 5 to 7 days. Permanent results from the surgery will be evident around 2 to 3 months. You should avoid strenuous exercise for the 1 week after surgery.
