Candidates for breast lift surgery are non-smoking women in good general health with realistic expectations for their results. Candidates often experienced one or more of the following conditions:
At your consultation, you and Dr. Goldberg will discuss your desires for the look and feel of your breasts. Dr. Goldberg will evaluate your breasts and decide if a breast lift is right for you.
If you are a candidate for breast lift surgery, then she will decide which type of anesthesia and which incision type she will use for your procedure. She will then address any questions or concerns that you may have about your lift and provide you with pre and postoperative instructions.
Depending on the extent of the procedure (including breast size and shape, amount of excess skin needing to be removed, and size and position of the areolas), either local anesthesia or general anesthesia will be used. Regardless of which anesthesia is used, you will not feel any pain during the surgery.
After the anesthesia has been administered, Dr. Goldberg will make an incision in the breast. She will lift and reshape the underlying breast tissue and reposition the nipple and areola. If necessary, she will reduce the size of the areola. Lastly, the incisions will be closed, and you will be ready to begin your recovery.
The procedure usually takes anywhere from two to three hours to complete.
There are three different types of incisions that Dr. Goldberg uses for breast lift surgery:
Here are illustrative cases of different breast lift.
This is a 60-year-old female with breast asymmetry. She had a left breast lollipop lift to improve breast shape and size with her right breast.
This is an early result at 3 months.

This is a case of an anchor breast lift.
The patient is a 42-year-old who underwent an anchor breast lift using her own breast tissue to augment the upper pole fullness. The results is a significant lift of the breast, natural shape and restoration of fullness in the upper pole of the breasts
GalaFLEX® surgical scaffolding is a mesh material that is placed in the breast during a lift. This mesh acts as an internal bra by reinforcing the tissues. Breast lifts with GalaFLEX® tend to have longer-lasting results.
After your procedure, you may have a tube temporarily placed to drain fluid and excess blood. You will have some soreness, swelling, and bruising in your breasts; however, these side effects should dissipate within two weeks, and medication can be taken to alleviate any postoperative discomfort.
You will need to refrain from strenuous activity for two weeks, but you should be able to return to work within one to two weeks of your surgery. It is normal to have some numbness in the area for up to six weeks. During that time, you will need to wear a compression garment to speed up recovery.
While you will have some swelling and bruising in the area, your results will be visible immediately after your procedure. However, it can take up to six weeks to see your final results.
Breast lift surgery requires incisions, which means that you will have scars. While a good portion of breast lift scars will be hidden in the breast contours around the areola and in the natural creases, there will be some visible scarring on the breast skin if a lollipop or anchor/inverted-T incision is used. These scars should fade over time.
Yes. While some women choose to have a breast lift as a standalone procedure, many combine their surgery with other procedures. Some of the most common combinations include a breast lift with implants (augmentation) and a breast reduction and lift. Combinations are performed when women wish to alter the size of their breasts as well.
One of the benefits of combining procedures is less overall recovery, as you will be recovering from multiple procedures at the same time.
As with all surgeries, breast lift cost varies by patient. The breast lift price depends on the extent of the correction, the type of anesthesia used, the incision technique needed, and whether the breast lift is combined with any other procedures. At your consultation, you will be provided with an accurate cost estimate.
